READING: We are reading a story this week called Salmon Summer. It is about an Aleutian boy who goes fishing for salmon on the Kodiak
Island. The strategy that we are working on is to summarize as we read the story. We will be reading two more stories in this
theme on nature.
SPELLING: Our spelling test is tomorrow! They are on 3 syllable
words. I am very proud in how well the students did in spelling this year! Keep up the great work!!!
ENGLISH: This week we are working with adverbs. We are finding
them in sentences and putting our own adverbs in paragraphs.
SCIENCE: We focused this week on the Water Cycle and how important
water is! We also learned about different ways to conserve water. Remember that if you want your water tested you can bring
in a water sample from home to the Water Festival tomorrow!
RELIGION: The students did a great job yesterday at mass. We
are finishing our 10 Commandment book this week. I will be testing the students orally on the 10 Commandments on Monday. Please
take time and review them over the weekend!
SOCIAL: The students are working on working on finding information
and pictures for their state poster boards. This project is due on May 19th.
TIE DYING: Remember that we will be tie-dying T-shirts next
Friday. Please have your shirt in by Wednesday, May 14th.
WATER FESTIVAL: We will be going to the Water Festival tomorrow.
Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes! (School will be packing the students lunch for them tomorrow.)
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!
Good luck to the people going fishing on the Opener and I hope all Moms have a terrific MOTHER’S DAY!
Take Care,
Mrs. Thelen
