Second Grade News May 1, 2008
Religion- The children looked so beautiful on Sunday and
did such a nice job at mass. They are truly angels! This week the children have been learning about how God wants us to be
a peaceful people with one another.
Math- The children have been working on measurement on
inches, feet, and yard. They are having a lot of fun measuring objects around the classroom.
Reading- The children are reading a story called “The
Art Lesson”. This is quite a unique story because the author of the story is writing about his own school experience.
Ask your child the name of the author and what things drew on at his home. The children are also finding details about the
story and expressing their own feelings about how they feel about the author’s point of view of this story.
Science- The children finished their unit about weather
and the water cycle. They are now learning about plant life and what process a seed has to go through to become a beautiful
plant.
Social- The children continue to learn about special places
and people in our world.
Handwriting- The children are starting to write some of
their assignments in cursive handwriting. They still continue to practice connecting the letters to gain control and fluency
in their writing.
Have a great rest of the week!
